Chapter 12 I Don’t Agree To The Divorce
“You’ve decided quickly–seems like you’ve got your head on straight,” Ryan said, his lips curling up slightly. “But Vincent might not agree to the divorce. You’re probably in a tough fight.”
I felt a little lost.
‘Wasn’t he Vincent’s uncle? Why did it feel like he was on my side?
Besides, if I’m the one asking for divorce, Vincent should just agree, right? He’s into my sister–this should be perfect for him to marry Claire.
“Anyway, if you need any legal help, just let me know,” Ryan said, rubbing his temples. “As for the shooting, I’ll have someone look into it. Be careful though you might’ve been the target.”
“Uncle Ryan, thank you. Really thank you,” I said, my voice full of gratitude.
Seeing the exhaustion on his face, I got the hint and said, “You should rest. I’ll come by to check on you later.”
“Alright,” Ryan nodded. “Don’t worry too much about Toby. We’ll figure it out.”
“Mm–hmm.” I replied, then said goodbye and left the room.
Outside, Henry was waiting, looking apologetic, “Gabby, Daniel and I were supposed to be at your wedding with Vincent, but something urgent came up at home. That’s why we were late.”
“We showed up after the chaos started,” He added.
“It’s okay, Grandpa,” I said, waving him off.
Anyway, Vincent and I weren’t going to have another wedding. We’d be ending things soon.
“I just heard about your grandmother,” Henry’s eyes welled up.
“Grandpa, I’ll handle the funeral arrangements for Grandma. You just take care of yourself. And if there’s anything I can do for Uncle Ryan, let me know. He saved my life.” I reached out and gave him a hug.
“Good girl.” Henry said, patting my shoulder.
I returned to my hospital room and asked Liz to call in my doctor.
I kept begging them to keep my pregnancy a secret–no one could know.
Once that was settled, I headed to the morgue to see Josephine.
staring at her cold body, I cried quietly. ‘Grandma, what am I supposed to do? It feels like everyone I
care about is leaving me.‘
After leaving the morgue, I talked with my mom, and we set Josephine’s funeral for three days later.
Three days later, Josephine’s funeral was held as planned.
My hand had healed quite a bit–It still needed bandage, but I could move it normally now.
I could’ve been discharged, but I decided to stay in the hospital room these three days to rest. Mainly

because I didn’t want to go back to the Hudson house and face Vincent.
Vincent and Claire came to visit me a few times, but I didn’t see them.
I did visit Uncle Ryan occasionally–he was recovering quickly. Regular exercise really does keep people in better shape.
Meanwhile, I kept checking with the police, but there was still no news on Toby’s disappearance.
At the funeral, I wore black and kept my face neutral.
Some relatives and friends showed up, and my mother was busy greeting them.
Of course, Vincent and Claire were there too. Vincent didn’t look great–his eyes were bloodshot
The church was packed, everyone looking solemn.
“Gabby, let’s talk,” Vincent said, approaching me.
“I’m busy,” I shot back coldly, my tone firm. “I don’t have anything to discuss with you. I’m already working with a lawyer on the divorce papers. You just need to sign them, and we can finalize everything.”
“You really want a divorce?” Vincent frowned, looking worse than before. “Stop with dramatics. I’m not in the mood for your show.”
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Even now, he still thought I was just throwing a tantrum!
“I’m serious, and I won’t say it again,” I glared at him. “The funeral’s about to start. Move.”
“Come with me!” Vincent looked around and grabbed my injured left wrist, yanking me towards a
quieter corner.
The pain from my wrist made it impossible for me to resist.
Once we were alone, he shoved me against the wall and whispered in my ear, “Gabby, let me tell you. I’m not agreeing to the divorce!”
