The forbidden Uncle
Chapter 18 Moving Out, Saying Goodbye To The Past
Qors Mens
Our relationship hadn’t been close, so why was he going out of his way to help me like this?
It still doesn’t make sense to me, even now.
Looking back on my recent interactions with Ryan, I had a faint idea, but’l didn’t dare to dwell on it.
I felt like the more I thought about it, the more I might end up falling into some kind of trap.
I grabbed a cab back to the mansion I shared with Vincent, planning to pack up my personal things.
I needed to move out and cut ties with everything from the past.
On the way, I checked the trending topics on my phone.
“Hudson Enterprises CEO Vincent Suspected of Affair” and “Hudson Enterprises CEO’s Alleged Affair with Famous Model” were everywhere.
Now I clicked. Ryan had told Vincent to check the trending topics earlier, saying the negative press was hurting the Hudson family.
So, someone had caught Vincent and Claire’s together, and it had gone viral.
Everyone knew Vincent was married, though he barely ever acknowledged me as his wife in public. Most people didn’t even know I was Mrs. Hudson.
Imagine the scandal if people found out that Mr. Hudson was messing around with his wife’s sister?
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly as I scrolled through the gossip photos–Vincent and Claire looking intimate, just like a couple in love.
In just a few days, Vincent had taken Claire shopping, to the beach, all things he’d never bothered to do with me.
Claire was a famous model, and Vincent was a public figure. How could they be so careless about being seen together?
So, is that what happens when you truly love someone? You give them your all, even if the world doesn’t get it?
Before I knew it, my eyes were welling up again.
I thought I’d gotten past all this, but it still stung when I thought about him. Looking back on our failed marriage, all I felt was regret.
I wiped my eyes, telling myself to stay strong.
I won’t let this break me!
Because of the scandal with Vincent and Claire, Hudson Enterprises‘ stock had dropped drastically. It was definitely hurting the Hudson family. Unless Vincent held a press conference and introduced Claire as his real wife, this whole cheating mess wasn’t going away.
When the car pulled up to the mansion, I checked the trending topics again. The hashtags were gone. Guess Vincent had pulled some strings with PR? But deleting the trends wouldn’t make the gossip disappear entirely.

I figured Vincent was probably freaking out right now, but I didn’t want to deal with his mess anymore. Eventually, we’d be strangers anyway.
Getting out of the car, I headed into the garden. This fancy house I once shared with Vincent felt like a
prison.
As I reached the front door, I saw Vincent standing there in a sharp suit, looking as handsome and put- together as ever.
I tried not to look at him and walked past, pretending like nothing was wrong, but he suddenly pulled me in an embrace.
“Gabby, you’re back?” His voice was softer than I’d ever heard it. “I knew you couldn’t really go through with the divorce, right?”
That was ridiculous. He and Claire were out there all lovey–dovey, and now he was playing the sweet, caring husband with me?
“I’m just here to get my stuff, I’m serious about the divorce, and nothing’s going to change that,” I said firmly, trying to push him away. “Let me go!”
But he suddenly slammed me against the wall, his eyes wild as he leaned in to kiss me.
